Pysanky is an ancient egg decorating art that is at least 3,000 years old! The egg dying kits you can buy at the store are based on this ancient technique, but are not nearly as cool! The word Pysanky comes from the Ukrainian word meaning “to write”. Each Pysanka is written, not drawn, and uses symbolism bright colors to give each egg personal meaning. The technique uses plant based dyes, beeswax, and special pen called a kitska. In this workshop you will learn how to write your own Pysanka in the traditional style. You will also learn about the symbols and history of this ancient art form.
